WADE MULLEN

Wade Mullen, PhD, is a professor, researcher, and advocate working to help those trapped in the confusion and captivity that mark abusive situations. His personal experiences in abusive situations and ongoing research of abuse cases enable him to write with both care and expertise. In 2020, Wade published Something’s Not Right: Decoding the Hidden Tactics of Abuse and Freeing Yourself From Its Power. It’s based on his personal experiences in abusive situations and on his doctoral research on tactics used by Christian organizations in the wake of a scandal.

In 2021, Wade left his full-time job in higher education to focus on writing and consulting. He started a substack publication called Pellucid to cast light on how individuals and institutions use strategies of deception to perpetuate and cover-up abusive behavior. Readers are given insights to help them see through the fog of abusive dynamics. Posts also present ways in which we can promote safety, empowerment, transparency, and repair.

LIVREPRESS and WADE

Dr. Wade’s book Something’s Not Right: Decoding the Hidden Tactics of Abuse and Freeing Yourself From Its Power caught our attention, not only because our beloved Dr. Diane Langberg wrote the Preface, but it is a serious and in-depth study that needs to be available to everyone. Besides being an accomplished and prolific writer, Wade also recommends some of the books we have or will be publishing, as is the case of Mary DeMuth’s We Too: How the Church Can Respond Redemptively to the Sexual Abuse Crisis. We have been studying Something’s Not Right since 2023, and finally were able to get in touch with Tyndale to acquire the Portuguese rights. We cannot wait to bring this enlightening and transparent book to our Brazilian public and to every Portuguese-speaking Christian who is serious about seeing the light of truth in the church today.
